FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. What do I need to wear / bring for the 2 hour River Wild and Full Day rides?

We suggest you wear/bring along the following:

  • Comfortable full length trousers - jeans aren't always the best, jogging pants are recommended
  • Riding boots, tramping boots or a sturdy shoe with a heel
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen
  • Knee high rugby type socks, if you have a pair to hand
  • Jumper/fleece and gloves during the cooler months
  • Camera
  • ……….and for the gentlemen, good fitting underwear!

2. What do I need to wear/bring on The Overnight in Paradise and the Great Escape trips?

We suggest you wear/bring along the following:

  • Comfortable full length trousers - jeans aren't always the best, jogging pants are recommended
  • Riding boots, tramping boots or a sturdy shoe with a heel
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen
  • Knee high rugby type socks, if you have a pair to hand
  • Jumper/fleece and gloves during the cooler months
  • Camera
  • Sleeping bag, if available. If not please let us know when booking so we can hire one for you (the cost including a liner will be no more than $15 per bag per night)
  • Towel
  • Swimmers, there may be an opportunity to go for a dip
  • Change of clothes
  • Insect repellent
  • ……….and again for the gentlemen, good fitting underwear!

3. What type of horses do you have?

We have a variety of breeds of varying heights - thoroughbreds and station cross breds. All are well schooled and cared for by a team of dedicated horsemen and women. You'll be matched to a horse most suitable to your riding experience and ability.

4. I have been riding for 35 years, can I canter?

Yes, experienced riders will be offered plenty of opportunites to canter and others the chance to learn, however a certain level of safety has to be respected.

5. Do I need to wear a riding helmet?

Yes. Every client is provided with protective head gear which must be worn at all times during the ride for your own safety.

6. What will the weather be like?

Riding conditions in Glenorchy are generally good, invariably dry and sunny, however the weather can change rapidly so be prepared.

7. Will I get wet crossing the rivers on the ride?

Not intentionally. The guides will always test the river crossings and lead groups across the rivers. If in doubt an alternative route will be taken.

8. Should I bring my camera?

Yes, you are welcome to bring your camera along. Glenorchy and the surrounding areas are stunning! However you take your camera on rides at your own risk - we do cross rivers on several occasions.
